Lemoore is the first Kings County city to provide temporary water to residents outside city limits who are suffering from failed wells. The Lemoore City Council unanimously approved a contract last week with Self-Help Enterprises of Visalia to sell water to the nonprofit organization for an emergency dry well assistance program.

Porterville City Council approved an agreement between the city and Tulare County that gives the city a new well in exchange for providing water for East Porterville residents. A connection to the City of Tulare will bring clean, potable water to Matheny Tract, located south of Tulare. Self-Help Enterprises is working with the Pratt Mutual Water Company and Matheny Tract residents, whose water has high arsenic levels, to help facilitate the connection for clean drinking water.

Self-Help Enterprises is working with the Frazier Park Public Utility District (FPPUD) to provide a solution for repairing the community’s water system. With assistance from Self-Help Enterprises, the Frazer Park Public Utilities District will be applying for funding to develop a regional water system. A meeting to discuss voting by the community for this solution will take place on March 31.
