Small Farms & Groundwater Management Under SGMA

September 17, 2019 @ 10:00 am - 4:00 pm

Class Navigation

Implementation of California’s new groundwater law will begin in January 2020. Join Fresno State, Kings River Conservation District and the Asian Business Institute & Resources Center to discuss the possible effects of California’s new groundwater law, the Sustainable Groundwater Management Act (SGMA), on small farms, as well as emerging partnerships and potential solutions.

The Sustainable Groundwater Management Act (SGMA) will be implemented beginning in January 2020. Local groundwater sustainability agencies (GSAs) are releasing drafts of their groundwater sustainability plans (GSPs) that will set the rules for how groundwater will be managed under SGMA. This includes how each agency will measure groundwater use and how farmers will be charged for pumping groundwater from their wells.

Please RSVP at: http://ucanr.edu/sgmasmallfarms. Simultaneous translation will be provided in Spanish and Hmong.
