Asset Management Specialist



Salary: $26.53 – $41.15/hourly

Self-Help Enterprises (SHE) is seeking an Asset Management Specialist to join our dedicated Asset Management team.

 

In this role, you’ll help ensure the long-term health, compliance, and sustainability of affordable housing communities across the Central Valley. Working closely with property managers, on-site staff, and external partners, you will monitor compliance with tax credit programs, HUD, Rural Development, state and local regulations, and lender requirements—all while supporting SHE’s mission of strengthening communities through safe and affordable housing. This position requires occasional travel to conduct on-site visits.

Responsibilities


  • Ensure SHE rental communities are well-maintained and meet organizational quality standards.
  • Assist in preparing project budgets and track performance to ensure financial stability.
  • Conduct capital needs assessments and oversee capital improvement projects.
  • Partner with property management firms and on-site managers to support effective day-to-day operations.
  • Collaborate with funders, regulators, and limited partners to ensure compliance with all requirements.



Must Haves


  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with managers, staff, and external partners.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and project management tools.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and identify trends.
  • Excellent organizational and recordkeeping skills.
  • A four-year degree or equivalent professional experience.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities and success in a related professional role.

 

Preferred Qualifications (a plus, but not required)

 

  • Knowledge of state and federal housing programs or affordable housing development.
  • Experience with property management and/or asset management practices.
  • Familiarity with capital improvement projects and construction oversight.
  • Knowledge of county property assessments and welfare exemption filings.
  • Experience preparing statistical reports (vacancy rates, turnover, occupancy, etc.).
  • Background in grant funding and proposal development.
