Self-Help Enterprises is devoted to the development, preservation and improvement of housing stock for the hard working low-income families of the San Joaquin Valley. The concept of “self-help” is based upon the conviction that, given the proper tools, individuals can and will do the work necessary to improve their living conditions. This concept of “self-help” is not just a philosophy for homeownership, but is a driving force in all aspects of the organization. Self-Help Enterprises’ role is ideally limited to providing technical services and support, helping families and communities compete for scarce financial resources and empowering people to be leaders.
