Graciela went to work for the American Friends Service Committee just out of high school under the supervision of Bard McAllister. She was part of the organization that become Self-Help Enterprises under it’s first director, Howard Washburn. She has watched its progress for over 35 years and is proud to have been a part of its beginning. Graciela is currently writing a book and is the program director for Proyecto Campesino.

Proyecto Campesino is a program of the American Friends Service Committee, a nonprofit organization. This program has been assisting farm workers and low income families for over 45 years in person and by our radio program as they deal with issues of immigration, housing, labor, health education and working conditions. We are the trusted first stop for farm workers and a home away from home for those orienting themselves to the ways of this country.
